Electronic waste

(Posted on June 11, 2022)

Electronic waste or e-waste is a term for electronic devices and other electronic products, which are discarded, have become obsolete, or don't work anymore. As technology advances at a very high speed, many electronic devices become obsolete in just a few years of use. E-waste actually contains everything electronic, which was thrown away, such as old computers, TVs, phones, smart-watches…
And how does e-waste affect the environment? E-waste contains chemicals (Mercury, lead, beryllium, brominated flame retardants, cadmium… Arsenic is the only toxic element that you can not find in the e-waste.) which are harmful to people and the environment. They can cause ozone depletion, pollute groundwater…
What can we do about it?
We can use environmentally friendly electronics, reuse or renew used electronics, donate them to some social programs, recycle batteries and electronics at e-waste recycling bins...
